On the promenade.

{Casper Pendant by TOKEN}
{Catenary Stool by TOKEN}
{Sideboard by TOKEN}
The pieces above were designed and handcrafted by TOKEN, a Brooklyn based  contemporary furniture and lighting design studio. Principals Will Kavesh and Emrys Berkower use their work to explore what they call "function, structural ingenuity, material dynamics and aesthetic coherence." Token was selected a few years ago as one of the three New York City designers to specially design and build custom furniture for the 21/20: On The Promenade for the New York City Ballet theatre in Lincoln Center. Their pieces are clean, ergonomic, high quality, and truly stunning!!

Having grown up in Northern New Jersey, I was hit from afar with the devastation of Hurricane Sandy this past October. Without water, heat, and power for multiple weeks my friends and family back East were happy to be safe and did what they could to continue on as normal as possible. They tried to relay to me what the situation looked like outside their windows, but were constantly at a loss for words. It was not until I was home in December and could see for myself the vast destruction such an extreme storm could cause that the aftermath started to hit me. Not only did many loose their homes, but businesses were completely destroyed as well. Sandy brought 6 feet of water to Red Hook, Brooklyn and invaded TOKEN's studio space trashing their work in progress, submerging their machinery, ruining raw materials, and destroying their offices and showroom. Not defeated but more so a set back, the studio is rebuilding and planning to come back stronger than before! Please support TOKEN and other businesses in the design/art community who were affected - their Wednesday TO DO list is probably much longer then yours or mine is today....
